Description:The Senior Accounting/Billing Clerk performs many types of senior-level accounting and administrative duties with limited supervision. Duties include, but are not limited to, payroll processing, expense audits, accounts payable, accounts receivable, filing, data entry, customer service, and answering the phone. Duties:Performs senior-level clerical accounting activities under limited supervision. Examines and codes invoices or vouchers for journal entry. Monitors vendor invoices for discrepancies. Assists with adjusting and closing journal entries. Performs limited analysis and prepares routine reports. Verifies reports and reconciles discrepancies. Balances and reconciles accounting data from several sources. Handles customer inquiries related to accounting records. Reviews client invoice payments (AR aging) and performs follow-up as necessary. Writes checks. Serves as custodian of petty cash fund for office. Prepares reports in compliance with agency requirements. Prepares year-end 1099 forms. May direct and review the work of lower-level clerks. Performs the clerical tasks necessary to prepare paychecks and maintain payroll records. May assist management with Human Resources functions. Requires use of independent judgment and initiative based on familiarity with the organization and accounting practices and procedures.
Qualifications:The employee may occasionally be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry office equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds. Work may routinely require the employee to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Work is performed under all weather conditions, sometimes in the outdoors or on difficult terrain, and sometimes involves extensive standing and walking.
Education - High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience - Five years of clerical accounting experience and proficiency with adding machine and computerized accounting systems.
Must have the ability to read, write, and perform basic math, must be comfortable communicating with the public and working with computers, must be available to work in all types of indoor and outdoor environments.
