Drilling Supervisor

Description:This person operates and/or directs operation of a drill rig for purpose of performing test borings. This person is also responsible for overseeing and directing drilling staff in the region. This person is viewed as a skilled professional in their practice. Duties:Field visits of drilling sites in order to assist in developing appropriate scopes of work and cost estimates. Attend Pre-Bid Meetings when Drilling Services Manager is not available. Assist the drill crews with day to day drill operations. Assist in managing the drill supply inventory. Prepares boring logs and field reports. Obtain soil and rock samples from test borings, using proper collection/handling methods. Direct, oversee, and perform drill rig and support vehicle maintenance. Install monitoring wells and piezometers. Ensure that a professional relationship is maintained with the client/owner when they are present. Maintain good and frequent communication with project manager and drilling services manager. Maintain equipment in clean and working order. Ensure all safety procedures are followed at the drill site. Strives to make each project profitable.
Qualifications:Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and from a height of 30 inches regularly throughout the day. Ability to frequently carry up to 100 pounds for a distance of 15 20 feet. Ability to stand 90% (often on uneven surfaces) and walk 20% of the time with frequent bending and stooping. A driving record free of specific violations.
Education - Bachelor's degree in appropriate field. Advanced degree is desirable. Relevant and extensive experience may be substituted for a degree.
Experience – Two years’ experience in the operation of drill rig or similar heavy equipment.
Possess or be eligible for Class A commercial driver’s license.
Must possess a valid driver’s license, ability to safely operate a motor vehicle, ability to read, write, and perform basic math, must be comfortable communicating with the public, must be available to work in all types of indoor and outdoor environments. A CDL license is strongly encouraged.
