|Description:||This seasoned survey veteran performs day to day supervision of the survey crew. Ensures field survey activities are performed in accordance with company standard procedures, standards set by applicable state statutes, and the American Congress of Surveying and Mapping. |Duties:||Plans daily activities in association with Surveying Supervisor. Oversees vehicle and equipment inventory, loading, and maintenance. Responsible for maintenance and calibration of equipment on a regular basis. Requests new equipment purchases and vehicle maintenance as necessary. Supervises use of equipment, preparation of sketches and notes, and electronic data collection. Communicates as necessary with professional office staff regarding projects. Works without direct supervision. Makes technical and supervisory decisions and reports to Surveying Supervisor immediately. Prepares daily time sheets, data logs, and expense reports. Provides input regarding performance evaluation of crew members. Strives to make each project profitable and participates in collections. Prospects new clients.|
|Qualifications:||The employee may be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 80 pounds. Work may routinely require the employee to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Work is performed under all weather conditions, often on busy streets or construction sites, involves extensive standing and walking and includes clearing brush, working in difficult terrain, manholes and on difficult slopes.|
Education - High school diploma or equivalent. Post-secondary technical training in surveying, including two-year associate degree or technology degree is desirable. Relevant experience and training may be substituted for a college degree.
Experience – Four years of progressively more responsible work experience on a survey crew, including two years as an Instrument Technician.
Must possess a valid driver’s license, ability to safely operate a motor vehicle, ability to read, write, and perform basic math, must be comfortable communicating with the public, must be available to work in all types of indoor and outdoor environments.
Registration as Professional Land Surveyor in Ohio is required.
